The Bible states in John 2:1-12 that Jesus consumed wine. I would like your opinion on what the Bible says about wine. Thank you.

Jesus changed water into wine. It even seems that Jesus likely drank wine on occasion (John 2:1-11; Matthew 26:29). In New Testament times, the water was not very clean. Without modern sanitation efforts, the water was filled with bacteria, viruses, and all kinds of contaminants. The same is true in most third-world countries today. As a result, people often drank wine (or grape juice) because it was far less likely to be contaminated. In 1 Timothy 5:23, Paul was instructing Timothy to stop drinking the water (which was probably causing his stomach problems) and instead drink wine. The Greek word for wine in the Bible is the most basic everyday word for wine. In that day, wine was fermented, but not to the degree it is today. It is incorrect to say that it was grape juice, but it is also incorrect to say that it was the same thing as the wine we use today. Again, Scripture does not necessarily forbid Christians from drinking beer, wine, or any other drink containing alcohol. Alcohol is not, in and of itself, tainted by sin. It is, rather, drunkenness and addiction to alcohol that a Christian must absolutely refrain from (Ephesians 5:18; 1 Corinthians 6:12).

Agreed Uncle, the Bible doesn't say anywhere that we can't drink wine.. the Bible only says that we shouldn't be drunk!! However if drinking the wine causes a believer to stumble, or an unbeliever to stumble then we shouldn't drink wine

I apologize I don't have the time to do this now, I want to mention anyway, Pastor Mike is in the middle of a study on the tabernacle on the old testament and the importance of the materials in it, and taking care of it.
Today, we are the tabernacle of God. If we know something is harmful for us, God forbids us from doing it. Also, whether it is ok to drink wine or not is not necessarilly as important as the stumbling block. If your born-again buddy used to drink and the Lord has lead him to stop, but then he sees you drinking, it may push him to drink again, and that is worse than anything!

I will try to post more later, but work only provides moments of free time. So, this is my two cents...
Hopefully soon I will get that audio up on the site so you can listen to it and hear what Pastor has to say on this topic.

Don't worry about it, you probably don't want to waste any time dealing with wine in the forums.
