So as my title indicates, is it scriptual to take out a mortgage for a home, or is it a violation... Some would point out that it is a better steward of Gods money to take out a mortgage as you are paying for something and in the end you have a house....  Or is it unscriptual to have a mortgage because you are in debt...

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
(Romans 13:8, KJV)

I don't think the bible could get any clearer than this. But as it is nearly impossible to purchase a house straight out any more, thanks to the devils great monetary system built on debt, I don't really think it is possible to purchase a house without a mortgage.
But as God would have us to be good stewards, and make proper use of his money, I would imagine it is better use of God's money to purchase a home, rather than rent...

Nonetheless, if it is _not_ God's will that you purchase that house, but instead to do something else, you'd better not buy that house!

So violating scripture is okay as long as it is convenient  for us??? I thought that God owed the cattle on a thousand hills?? Maybe your placing too many restrictions on God..

Good point, you're exactley right. I don't want to violate scripture just to make it easy for us. So the answer would be, rent until you can set aside enough money to purchase a house. While you are setting money aside, you can invest it and do other smart things with it to help increase it quicker.

Lord willing, you will get the money saved, and the Lord will show you an affordable house. Never, should it be ok o violate one scripture for personal gain. I'd prefer to delete my previous post and have it stricken from the record, but can't do that...
It is absolutely not fair to put restrictions on God. By taking out a mortgage you are limiting yourself to that house, instead of waiting to see where the Holy Spirit might move you, or what things he might move for you so you can get a better home, or atleast the home the Lord has made for you.
